When upgrading from an OEM to an SBC high-output alternator, you should upgrade the positive and negative (ground) cables to handle the increased current.

This SBC-F7.3D-180 heavy-duty alternator generates a maximum of 180 Amps at normal driving speeds and produces 130 Amps at idle.

This SBC-F7.3D-180 heavy-duty alternator generates a maximum of 180 Amps at normal driving speeds and produces 130 Amps at idle. They feature larger housing while still retaining OEM fitment without any modification required. They run cooler and are virtually indestructible.

 

This alternator is designed to be an exact replacement to the OEM alternator for the 7.3L Ford Powerstroke Diesel engine and will directly bolt-on with no modifications necessary.
A precision machined, hard anodized pulley made from Aircraft Certified 6061 aluminum is installed on each alternator for maximum output and durability.
