When upgrading from an OEM to an SBC high-output alternator, you should upgrade the positive and negative (ground) cables to handle the increased current.

The SBC-GM24V-240 is a direct bolt on high output 24V alternator for all GM AD244/DR44 mounts. It installs in the OEM mounting location. It can also be used with multi-alternator systems which utilize AD244/DR44 mounts.

Available with internal or external regulation

This SBC heavy-duty 24 volt alternator generates a maximum of 240 Amps at normal driving speeds and produces 83 Amps at idle. It features a larger housing compared to the OEM 12 volt alternator while still retaining OEM fitment for GM AD244/DR44 mounting.

The alternator housing is precision machined from Aircraft Grade 6061 aluminum. The pulley is made from Aircraft Grade 7075 aluminum with a Type III hard anodized coating for increased strength and durability.
